FN-FORUM: Browserhawk/Browscap alternatives
date posted 14th May 2004 15:22
Afternoon all,
I'm having a bit of a struggle to get my hosting provider to install the
browserhawk component - they already have it but not on the server I'm
running my sites - bummer - and they want me to pay for the license to
install it (which I'm reluctant to do). I've used the browscap.ini ages
ago, but with mixed results. Are there any (less expensive) alternatives,
or has anyone used browscap.ini with good results? I'd rather not hack
together a client/server-side mishmash to detect Flash, browser, cookies
etc..
Many thanks for any pointers or advice,
Jakob
